I do think it's fine to acknowledge the commitment and experiences of veterans and active military on Memorial Day. They know more of the fallen soldiers than us civilians.

It is. And many active military members do a lot to remember those who have fallen so it is appropriate to thank them for doing so while remembering those who paid the ultimate price.
Those two unappreciative idiots (supersaint and tgn08... well, tgn08 more than SS) are just looking for a reason to call me out on something.
