I don't remember Peej's exact prediction, but I know it wasn't completely accurate.

And I know when shite was about to hit the fan, he conceded he was guessing like everyone else and backtracked on the prediction.

how you figure?

The Euro and one other, I think GFS, had 29.4" of rain dropping right over Livinston Parish/EBR at various times in their predictions. The NHC and NWS were showing the Amite at Denham cresting at 42.5', which is MAJOR flooding, and not far off of the 46' in 2016. They also had the Comite cresting higher than 2016.

Last time I checked, Amite at Denham is cresting at 26.5, and not even in the minor flood category.

So I spent several days thinking that I was going to get flooded, deal with clean up, then repairs while being displaced for about a year......to getting a bunch of rain and wind, but no flood.

I'd say I dodged a huge bullet.

TB08, I know other people weren't, and I'm not such an a-hole that I don't care. My heart goes out to them. It really does.

I was merely telling Rebel that we (me and my family, and many good folks around me that I went through 2016 with) dodged a bullet from the rain. And I'm thankful, to God, that we were spared.

But anyone on this site that knows me knows I'm not spiking the ball on those less fortunate.

I understand but there were several people in that thread spiking the football at 0730 Saturday Morning saying that Barry was already a bust.....before he had even made landfall

Im happy for you and you family and the people around you and Im sorry for your misfortunes in 2016.Ive been there and im currently in a similar situation, although not quite as bad

Hope you stay well

I wasn't one, and would never call something like this a bust. It wasn't a bust in any way, shape, or form. I'm just extremely thankful that we got spared the worst of it.

I feel your pain, and wouldn't wish it on you or anyone. I hope it's nothing too bad, and real talk, I'd be willing to come over to your house and help if needed. And I bet I could get a few other OT'ers to make the trip as well.

I for one am super happy that I didn't have to go through another 2016.
If anyone who did flood needs anything I would be happy to help.

During my hurrication (evacuation to my daughters house) I went to my first horse race Aspy!!

Also I am old and had piccadilly for lunch.

It's not too bad.....I appreciate that, all the clearing out and gutting has been done......now Im waiting for the adjuster to show up Wednesday and start the fight with the insurance and contractors.

I have a good bit of experience with this from the insurance side, so happy to help with questions.

If it's with the Federal Flood Insurance policy, not nearly as much experience with that, though. Only what I went through with my GF and she didn't have contents coverage.
