We were in shotgun formation. I am behind center.. The RB behind right guard. We had two TEs. It was 2nd and 6.. My first two check downs were going to be TE1 then TE2. We hadn't used a TE all game.
We are playing a 3-4 defense, but I noticed they were disguising a safety as a linebacker so I called an audible. It was a play we only ran 4 times in practice, but I just had a feeling it was going to work. Something just overcame me and it was like I saw it all before it happened.
The play is named R Back Snap-Cat. Instead of snapping the ball straight back to me, the center snaps at an angle to the running back. I go through my three step as if I have the ball. And then take off as if I am going to scramble. The LB/S was spying me so when he same me take off he comes towards me.. Once he realizes the RB had the ball.. he stops for a split second and shifts and as he goes towards the RB I plow the frick out of him. If it wasn't for that black, my RB only gains 4 yards, instead we get the first down and into the red zone.
Next play I throw a pick 6.
