Is Magnolia Hall going to be part of the Nicholson Corridor? Trying to figure out where else they could build it without making parking even more of a clusterfrick.

High said there are plans in the works for a new residential hall that will stand where the Hart Lot is currently located. The new hall has not yet been named and will replace Kirby Smith, housing approximately 330 students.

Makes sense, I had forgotten that they will eventually demolish Kirby Smith.

I think they are planning on using it for conferences, at least in the short term.

LSU has a beautiful campus. I just cannot understand for the life of me, who convinced them to deviate from the look(Spanish?) of the Quad and older buildings.
Locket, Ceba and Middleton, Herg are terrible.
That art building people posted pictures of made me laugh when i would walk by it
The new 'Ceba' improvements are destined to be outdated and look old within a generation. dame with the new B School next door.
Hell, the new Parking Garage + Bookstore is one of the best looking new buildings on campus :bang head:
I hate we pay administrators good $ and they cannot have decent taste and foresight

I'd be happy with an exact replica of ULM's library:
That building would look great on the LSU campus!

it happens everywhere not just at LSU. Everybody goes for the "it" trend. Some of them work and some of them don't. Mississippi College has one of the most beautiful campuses in the south but they deviated away from it with the science building in the 60's then try to get back to the "classic look" with the new annex that just opend last year and it is state of the art and badass on the inside and looks great, but it makes the old science building stick out even more like a sore dick in the wind.

Also, any updates on the way finding signage project? They were slowly adding new signs around campus and slowly stopped.

Yeah I get that. I'm at Tulane now and there are a couple regrettable buildings, but there renovations of recent blend well IMO.
Idk IF you have ever been to the aggy campus, but if so, it will make you grateful for LSUs. Literally all of their buildings are dull and differing shades of brick.

Last time i was on campus(in Feb) it looked like they had replaced most of them.

I did notice when I was in BR for St Patty's day that the signs looked nicer than when I was there. Also the soroity chicks running the lakes I missed that.

I'd say they've replaced ~40% of them. If you walk through campus, you'll see they still have a ways to go. They're also suppose to build 2 more entrance gateways. KD also donated a donor plaque at the entrance by Sigma Chi in honor of their time on campus. This link lays it all out LINK

I'd forgotten how detailed that presentation was, and they definitely have quite a bit of work left. I would really like to see them add the more distinctive signs directing traffic to LSU from major arteries.

Presentation is top notch. Four years later we're still trying to implement it
But, I agree. It would definitely be beneficial for visitors.

That's a damn shame. I can't believe LSU let that pool go to waste

I'm conflicted, but I'd rather see the building getting used, than just sitting there and rotting.

LSUs academic facilities are a joke compared to other premier state schools. I remember checking out the campus in HS going to Middleton with my mom and asking where the main library was. The guide told us this was it and we just laughed... We had come straight from Kirby before that. Even with a scholarship we had a long talk about the benefits/drawbacks of LSU. In the end I'm glad I went to LSU, but I never bragged about the campus to my friends who went to VT, UVA or even JMU and NC St.
