Is $8k high? Sure it is, but it is Change Order work though so you always expect to pay more. Just like others have said, it may include re-mobilization, lease equipment, etc. Then throw in profit, how precise the grading requirement is in the specs and just the BS factor of having to deal with Tiger Stadium. $8k isn't some astronomical number people are making it out to be.

will cos tthe contractor about 100 bucks of the guys time, and charge LSU 8k
Actually, knowing him, he probably wont even charge LSU for the extra work. But they likely asked him how much the repair work would run so they would know how much to push for prosecution.

thats sounds a whole lot like how hospitals and insurance companies work.....
how much does this cost? 100 bucks.... ok our bill is going to show it cost 10k and we will pay you 1k.

How can you say $8k is a premium price if you don't know what work you're pricing?

How is not charging someone anything the same as medical insurance?

General earthwork? Or precision grading for proper drainage on high level sports fields?

Keep deflecting. I'll ask again, how do you know it's a premium price with zero knowledge of the scope?

So what fields have you done?
You also stated it would cost "$100 of his time". That doesn't include labor, equipment, lost time, etc. So what would your total ballpark quote be?
