The legacy of Middleton lives on

Yeah I'm not a fan of the BEC. Looks alright now but was short-sighted design wise.

All of the classroom/study room lights are all motion detectors too. In the 7-8 classes I've had in there, the lights will go off mid class. Sometimes LSU tries and over do the simple shite

I was just about to post if any one has heard what they may do to Middleton. What a disaster the 60s and 70s were for architecture.

Business school is pretty awful too.

I'm so glad to see they didn't do the modern spaceship shite. That will look cool now, but it will be Middleton-esque in 40 years.

Those are better than the contemporary rendering times infinity.

IMHO, they need to build a new library elsewhere on campus, then give Middleton a facelift and convert it to an Administration building. The school really needs more space for administration and services like the registrar, which are scattered around the campus at Pleasant Hall, Thomas Boyd Hall, and West David Boyd Hall.

Gutting Middleton would make space for centralizing all these services in one building, and free up class room space in Thomas Boyd Hall and West David Boyd Hall. The Quad is where LSU students overwhelmingly prefer to have classes. Moving the Office of Undergraduate Admissions & Student Aid out of Pleasant Hall would make space for the School of Music and the Dramatic Arts.

Ideally, this would all happen as part of a facelift to Middleton to give it more of the same look as other buildings in the Quad.

The inside looks good, but that exterior is odd. Stay traditional LSU or go in another direction, but don't try and mesh LSU's old architecture with a new architectural style. Maybe it's the perspective of the rendering, but that front trapezoid on the roof line with the large arches underneath is awkward.

I think people will just complain about everything.

Just wanted to give you a shout out. You called the change to a more traditional look a long time ago, and you were spot on!

Old renderings

New renderings

Sorry guys, but those renderings aren't very accurate. The number of Asians is way too low.

That was a given as soon as they chose Coleman.

Anyone know the exact perspective of this rendering? The only area with that much flat land around CEBA/PFT is the parking lot along CEBA Ln. Would be nice if they replaced it with grass.

Yeah, that much grass is wishful thinking. They're already removing half of that parking lot along that face of the building so they still need C zone spaces. The only parking that will be repurposed for landscaping/grass is the visitors parking.

Unless they really are serious about putting a parking garage over that way.

The modern renderings were scrapped. It's going to match the traditional feel of campus. Construction will begin in November, last I heard.

The Modern design is much more interesting than the Colonnaded Turd design.

I haven't heard anything about a garage on that side of campus. I think they're content to just keep paving more area on the other side of the Nicholson extension.

My prof told me they aren't putting in any more faculty parking. They will have to park elsewhere

Honestly, I've never seen that lot close to full so I don't think it'll be a huge issue and even though I said half earlier it's more like a third of the lot that will be gone.

It's faculty/staff and only about 1/3 occupied. They'll move them across South Stadium or the first row or two of the commuter lot.
