They want their so called "land" (marsh) to be protected and built back up but do not want the public to have access. But yet, they are getting it done with tax payer money but the taxpayers have no access to it.
And why isn't this on the OB?

That is correct, and that's why people are pissed that guys are gating off their canals, which utilize public waterways and fisheries. Basically, I can have your shite, but you can't have your shite.
If they wanna keep people out, they should block the canal off with dirt

How is it public water if it's a one way in one way out dead end canal? Does that mean you have the right to motor onto my lease, stop in the middle of the canal and shoot any duck that flies over that pond my canal leads you to?

I have no issue gating off a private canal. Keep in mind that when you lease land in the marsh, you get a square on the map, regardless of what tiny canals are there.

exactly...we have several little dead end canals running through our lease...just because you can access them by coming in throught the main bayou

Because it is connected to water that is not on your property. You effectively have a man made slew(sp?).

Confusing wording. I would imagine that they would be trespassing/poaching if they shoot an animal on your land.

Because we've argued about it until we are blue in the face.
I decided to antagonize this go round.

If someone steps onto the land, they are trespassing

Is a fish an animal? What if someone motors in after dark bow fishing?

I honestly forgot there was an OB

I'm not trolling.
At first I sided with the people wanting to use the water. I hunt and fish and understand the frustrations of this issue.
However, after following, commenting, and researching this subject after many debates about it on the OB, I've come to understand the position of the private property owner.
Like I said, I'm not a big fan of gating off canals, but legally I respect it.

Im not on either side. but the land owners in some places are being bitches about it.
I.E.: the waterways down by fourchon that the one poster was crying over. nobody is out there hunting so why should they really care if kayak fishermen are in there. bayou thunder has been there for a lot longer than people have been here. it is tidal. those people suck that cry over that parcel

but they can catch fish in the public water(your words not mine) that runs through my private land?

my driveway is connected to the road that is not on my property, does that give you the right to park in my garage?

Is there a petition against this petition?

so as long as you can access a pond in the middle of my property from the main bayou you have the right to set up your boat with a pop up blind and hunt ducks in that pond?
