Louisiana citizens application fee refund....

Did anyone else receive a check for $40 from these folks? Is it legit?

The letter explains this refund was demanded by the Louisiana commissioner of insurance. It's a refund of the application fee that was charged.

Yeah a lot of people are receiving that check. Basically LA citizens left off the Application fee of $65 on the declarations page. Therefore, a judge determined that LA Citizens should have not taken the app fee. You get $40 while the lawyers get $25. It's legit.

I got two different checks for $40/each...one to first name/last name and one to first name/middle initial/last name. I'm pretty sure I only have one property insurance policy, so if I cash both of them will they come after me for the extra $40 like this kid?

If this check is good, I'd only cash the check that matches the policy name.

We had a similar instance occur, but I received a check and my wife did as well. This seems really bizarre, or a giant F-up.

Due to the way the house was inherited, it's only in my name, not my husband's, so he didn't get a check too.
