Have you met the elected officials in LA?
No one does without a fistful of dollars

Just an asinine statement. Louisiana and Georgia both have two nuclear power plants.
That’s like saying an Hyundai Elantra and a Ferrari are equivalent because they are both cars.
Georgia makes 3 times as much nuclear power as LA does.

We of course knew this.
Meta is paying for a pair of natural gas fired combined cycle power plant adjacent to the data center and excess will be sold to the grid. That is how the entire project was announced. There are some out of state anti data center dickwads trying to claim this almost everywhere that we pay of it
As far as water goes, 200 million gallons per day is pumped into a canal at the Sabine River and travels 35 miles to industry in Sulphur/Westlake, LA.
For the clueless.... manufacturing uses a lot of water for cooling.

This is not related to Meta, they are paying for all of their cost to serve and a lot more - actually reducing rates significantly for residential customers. Idk if you’ve been to the grocery store in the last 6 years, but prices are going up because new gas generation to replace older aging facilities (really old) has doubled in price or more over that timeframe, just like the groceries!
Funny how everyone knows the covid shutdown caused the rise in inflation, but when it comes to electricity cost there is this immediate “it’s Entergy’s fault” reaction.

The article says higher prices are due to increased demand…
What is causing increased demand?…

There are a lot of industrial and commercial customers coming to the state. They also need a lot of electricity. They too will pay more than their cost of service. Entergy needs to build generation because the need more electricity to keep growing. Meta’s generation needs are separate from this.
Electric rates are going up because everything costs more to build and maintain across the board. Poles cost double, conductors cost double, generators cost double.
When Karen drives into a pole driving Braxtyn to his third tournament of the weekend, the cost of redoing all of that falls on the rate base.

Was going to the Doctor in Savannah yesterday, passed the Hyundai plant. “ Wonder how long before a new banner proclaiming a new data center will be hanging on the walls? No way in hell, the Koreans manufacture 50,000 electric cars a year from that hell hole.”
