I bring my kids at least once a week and we love it. We usually go on a day Monday-Wednesday. Avoid weekends. Like some people said, if you plan on going more than once buy a season pass. If not, DO NOT bring a coke can, if you pay full price you get a second day free.
As far as fat people, black people, tatted up people, kids with no parental super vision. I must go on good days, or I don't care because having fun with my kids are more important than poking fun at people I don't know. We even brought the youngest Saturday evening to ride the rides at Dixie landing, and to me the people were fine.

The times we've gone were always on weekdays and the crowds weren't bad at all.
