That's oddly specific. I would think you would want the best carpenter regardless of race.

I have placed ads in Craigslist before - "Looking for retired Finish Carpenter for Small Project - 30+ years experience preferred"

Get references. I paid union scale - $35 hour cash.

If you get lucky, it's like having Norm from This Old House working for you. A master carpenter can do more in 20 hours than a crew of stiffs in 2 weeks

I’d go with Mexican if the Jewish one isn’t available.

I can give you my SIL info. Has 20+ years and yes, he is a master carpenter. Work from framing houses, cabinets to custom finishing houses. What you looking at doing, he built one for his son. Came out super nice.

Most master carpenters have a helper that gets paid no less then $12 per hour. So you were looking to pay less the $23 a hour.

If the Carpenter needs a helper, get him one. You're still under $50 an hour.

I've done this a number of times. Has always worked out great. The only problem is if some clown claims to be a master carpenter, but is a hack. That's why you get references.

And most retired guys don't want full-time work, but are happy to do small projects.

Call State Lumber on Highland rd., ask for Jude, tell him what you are looking for, he will likely recommend a guy named Lee who does high end stair cases and finish work, but he doesn't come cheap.
