Second the JBL flip recommendation. Saw them for less than $75 before Christmas. Great sounding device and splash-proof is good for the beach.

Splash proof? It's a speaker. Don't get it wet.

What?

I keep mine in the shower. I don't remember the brand though but that's why I bought it

How portable? I have a large wheeled speaker. an Explorer from Sam's for like 125. Love it.

I heard this one. Sounded good. Plus "water-proof" but $75 more than the JBL Flip.

Any suggestions for a good sounding wireless bluetooth portable speaker?

I have the Braven BRV-1 and love it. I use it while fishing since my boat is pretty basic. I can tell you the battery will last at least 8 hours. After each trip I charge it and, even after being on the water for 6-8 hours a trip, the battery is hardly used up. It sounds good, too. I run Pandora on my iPhone and it links to the speaker easily.

Geek.com and you can get semi-okay bluetooth products from anywhere between $1 and $100. Download the app on your phone.

I had looked at Fugoo as a Christmas present for someone but ended up going another route.

Anyone who says Beats anything should be banned.

Anyone who says Bose is just a dumb brand whore that did no research before buying theirs and thinks it's amazing.

Jawbone's are the best, but if you want something splash proof, JBL is a good pick.

Omaker M4

Got this for like $35 on Amazon(normally an $80 speaker). Small, durable speaker. Really good sound for a small speaker. Waterproof(I keep mine in my shower). 12 hour battery life when charged.

I have a Jawbone. My buddy has a Bose.

We both brought ours out to the beach, and his sounded significantly better IMHO. It was louder, and the sound is crisp.

But I do agree that Beats anything sucks.

Block rocker! it is big but has wheels and extendable handle, like a suitcase. It will stay charged for 50 hrs! and will recharge your phone! it has a sub and midrange speaker. its $100, blows any little speaker out the water, they just cant compete with the full sound of large speakers.

I have the Bose and I like it. My kid gave to me. Are all of you using only your phone? I have a couple of old iPods and would like to dump all on them and use instead of my phone. Would that work ok?

We recently bought one. Good sound. Have not yet tried it in water.

...so far so good.
