Mine has been on a possum killing spree. I thought she killed one last night but it was gone this morning. I hate for her to do it but I can't stop her. She gets so excited when she sees one and won't stop until she can get it. Then she's so proud of herself.

Damn. That sucks your girlfriend is cuddled up with your best friend, while you're at work. You're living in a country song.

Hey CC Glad you survived. I have a fear of heights. I don't think I could do that.

My dog has only killed a mouse once. And I'm pretty sure it was an accident. She's a pit. If she was out to kill, is expect bite marks, and blood and guts everywhere from head shaking. Instead, it only had a little blood coming out of its ear. So I think she was trying to play with it, and just squished it.

Here's her playing with a fat, old dog at the park.

I've worked on one of the highest, sketchiest projects in Louisiana (I'd say the name, but I know too many people down there, want to move back, and have been way too honest here about my personal life). A fear of heights is something that any sane person naturally has. It's more about gradually breaking the fear, and eventually having unquestioned faith in your safety gear. You can't just hang out at a couple hundred feet on a narrow beam, and expect to get comfortable. Baby steps are required.

Cute! We have a lot of dog parks here but I've never taken mine.
Mine's the sweetest dog in the world but a killing machine for birds or possums. One morning she caught a dove and I was so mad and screaming at her to let it go but she doesn't care. She's never been aggressive any other time.

I'm glad there are people like you that can do it or at least learn to do it but I don't think I ever could. I was at a hotel once 10 floors up and opened the window not knowing the window went to the floor so it felt like I was standing on the edge and I almost had a heart attack.

I understand about not wanting to say the name. I try not to tell specifics because I know so many people who lurk here.

Mine has a weaker then expected prey drive. She does chase squirrels some. But I'm not sure what she'd do if she actually got one. I've never seen any aggression from her. The only times she's even been in a scuffle at a dog park, she was attacked, and tried to run. But once the other dog drew blood, she defended herself.

For me, I had to take her early and often. When in Nola. After looking at the shelters and rescues, I realized I was gonna get a pit. I knew a lot of scumbags in Florida that had them, but they always seemed no different than any other dogs.

So when I accepted I was getting a pit, I did a shitload of research. They can have natural animal aggression. So with her being only 3 months when I got her, I knew she needed to be properly socialized, for situations like I'm right now. On the road, working a job. I wanted her to not be afraid in any situation I put her into.

So I brought her to the dog park 3-4 times a week as a pup. Any sign of dominance or alpha behavior were immediately punished. I also brought her to a dozen music festivals, and countless bars. Basically, if dogs were allowed, she was coming. Regardless of how much of a pain in the arse it was. I kept that up until she was about 1.

But I think I might've oversocialized her. When I bring her to a dog park now. She says hello to every human first, gets petted, then plays with the dogs. Though I bring her to work, and everyone loves her. Even people who hate pitbulls (because of the stereotypical trashy owner), absolutely love her. So while she can be a little intense, it worked out pretty good. Only reason I wouldn't want to get another pit, is the hoops I have to jump through to find a decent place whenever I move.

I was always a climbing monkey. I have my mom many near heart attacks as a kid.

Myself and my twin bro loved to climb when we were younger also. It's almost like you have to if you grow up in the country. Building camps, playing wargames, etc. My mom never had steak knives either we always took them with us up in the trees we like to cut shite up.

Yes first night back after the weekend off. Lots of catching back up and getting everything back the way it was when we left.

I climbed trees as kid and it didn't bother me then. I guess it was an age thing. When I'd get in trouble I'd climb a tree until my mom cooled off. I spent a lot of time trees.

I guess mom did some yelling up at the tree but you played it smart by not coming down.

She would say when we get home you're getting a whipping. So as soon as we got home I'd sneak out to the tree and stay as long as I could hoping another sibling (I had a lot) would distract her. It usually worked. Out of sight out of mind.

I kinda wish I did. I grew up in Orlando. I like to think that me not being a douchebag with too much hair gel, is like an overcoming adversity story. Rudy doesn't have shite on me.

But luckily I had a big family, that loved to meet up in cool places outdoors. But I still like to be in the center of things. Otherwise, I'd be living in the sticks.
