I'm trying to sleep after a string of night shifts

My field trailer is full of candy and cookies. An inspector started expensing snacks for us. But instead of getting anything halfway nutritious, it's all Halloween candy, soda and bags of cookies. And when you're bored on nightshift, is annoying to have in front of you. I'd rather have Gatorade, chips, fruit, or anything I could eat with lunch. Not just junk.
I can't believe they keep reimbursing him.

I'm just trying to stay sane after almost 5 months of nights. I finally said frick it, and bought a Nintendo Switch. It's been helping. But I'm ready to get off the vampire schedule.

I'm sure browsing the OT is helping.
I have no room to talk, I do it too.

Yep. Most of the nightshifts in my career have been only big concrete pours. But this job runs 24 hours, and the state engineer has brought most of the consultants on to nights. Being a structural guy, they needed me on nights first.
Now, I've just been mostly babysitting for the last month.

I've found Ken Burns documentaries help me pass out. Especially the civil war, with the lonesome fiddle playing and the soothing voices. I figured it out after falling asleep 5 times to the same episode

I worked night shift for EMS for a year so switching back to normal schedule was so tough
ETA: just realized that was over 4 years ago now and it's crazy to think about how much my life has changed since then...damn

I hope to find out soon. I should be off nights at the end of the month. Definitely by Thanksgiving. I'll probably need a lot of dabs during that first week to readjust my sleep schedule.

I quit a week before christmas and started graduate school first week of January so it was quite the abrupt change

I find that shite too interesting to fall asleep to. Then again if you've seen it a bunch. I usually read or Netflix some West Wing. I've seen every episode a dozen times so I'll pass the frick out.

4 years ago, I was 30 lbs lighter, getting way too drink regularly, and picking up women from Pal's almost every weekend. Now, I'm I'm in Arkansas getting paid double, but am bored as hell. Hopefully, I'll find a balance soon.

That's why I stopped listening to Hardcore history at night. But the Civil War documentary is relaxing to me. B

I'm sure that you will. Takes time but once you get there you'll know it and be glad you are
these past 4 yaers have been a fricking whirlwind, I tell you that. I'm stronger for it but sometimes I wish some things were different

Yeah I don't want Dan Carlin in my ear while I sleep. I'll dream about being in some foxhole at the Somme.
