Sticks was on the Anthony Cumia show yesterday. He told the story about how he got the name "Sticks". If you haven't heard it before, here it is.
He was 21 doing an internship with Tulsa PD. He would ride along with 2 cops every Friday and Saturday night. They only gave him a vest and a flashlight. One night they get into a pursuit. A gang banger bailed out of the car, so Sticks jumped out and chased him down. He held the guy down until the cops he was with caught up and cuffed the guy. One of them said "nice work, but you can't do that frick stick!" The same cop called him "Stick" all through the police academy and the name "Stick" stuck. When he started working the folks on the street thought his name was "Sticks" so it got changed to "Sticks."
