Shouldn't there only be one world series?

Take it from a guy who has been coaching Dixie Youth and Travel ball for 20 years. The Little League World Series is THE youth baseball World Series. Over one million kids play it yearly with teams around the world. The qualifying process is brutal. Sub District, District, State, Regional and then the World Series.

The kids are selected from their local leagues to play on their All Star team. As someone pointed out, I'm sure most of them also play travel baseball for other teams.

Around 200,000 kids play Dixie Youth each year and while the qualifying process for DYB is difficult, it's nothing like Little League.

As for not taking leads and not being real baseball, imagine if you will standing in the batters box awaiting a pitch that will be thrown by a 13 year, weighing 150 pounds from only 46' away. It will reach the equivalent speed of a 98 mph fastball in the Majors. And if that doesn't get you, he'll throw a curve ball to you that looks like it fell off the end of your kitchen table.

The base paths are only 60', so if a defender even bobbles the ball, he has little to no chance of throwing the runner out. It may not be "real" baseball but it's pretty damned salty nonetheless.

See that’s dangerous. The distance should at least be 54’/80’

Well at least 50/70 and you're correct, it's amazing no one has been seriously injured at that level of play yet.
