You would have had to have the real thing to compare it to the real thing Baw

I've had sex 4 times so I know what it's like

I was never some "porn freak." But that justification is an insidious trap in itself. There is always someone more f'ed up than you, but that doesn't mean what you're doing is healthy.
You nailed this one. In college, I had some great friends, and we were really open about our struggles with porn, and just talking to guys, you would discover more about yourself. Scared the shite out of me when I started to realize it was worse than I thought.

Real talk: I made a vow to myself to never look at the stuff again when my daughter was born (11 months ago) and my life has changed for the better.

You had some weird friends in college.

Just the opposite. I had friends who were more than just drinking buddies. Best human beings I've ever met.

Porn definitely has an adverse effect on people and it has an incremental nature where the porn that satisfies you now, won't satisfy you later and you will have to turn to harder stuff. I've dealt with many porn addicts through ministry and have heard the same stories over and over and how many marriages and relationships have been destroyed by it. And that's not even counting the countless women who have destroyed their lives, health and self esteem by doing every imaginable filthy thing under the sun to fill some empty void in their lives.
It's never too late to stop, and you can begin the process of replacing vulgar images with more wholesome ones immediately.

You wouldn't be so trite if it were your daughter involved.

I made a few jokes at the beginning of this thread but I've been clicking the links and reading into it. I'm going to try to avoid porn for a month, and see where that takes me.

I'm not some maniac, but I found myself browsing pics and stuff, even from my phone...it wasn't what someone would call obsessive, but it wasn't my thing.
After a month or so, you don't miss it. It helped my relationship with my wife, personally.

This is what I'm hoping for. I love my wife but I've been bored with her, sexually, for a while. I used to want to frick the dye out of her hair. That TED vid someone posted was eye opening.

Good luck, things weren't bad for me. But it's a lot easier to not "need" your spouse if you are getting a release somewhere else.

I read almost every post in this thread and I was sure that almost all of it would be crude jokes, but I was pleasantly surprised by how many serious responses were on here and how many men have given up or are trying to give up porn. My hope in humanity is bolstered by this thread!

I hear you. I don't mean to sound cavalier about my wife, or that I have no interest in her. I'm just hoping that it will improve things.

So I am guessing YOU think people who view porn are BAD and disgusting people??????
I have a well rounded life and YES I dabble a little at porn watching. I see nothing wrong with it if it helps the SPARK in a marriage.

I disagree with 99.999% of his posts on the politard board but he didn't insinuate that.

I wouldn't use the words bad or disgusting. I'm just pleased that a site that's frequented by many college aged men would take the subject so seriously.
I was addicted to porn for many years and it played a major role in the destruction of my marriage so I would never judge someone about this.

I'm going to disagree here, simply from my Christian faith. I understand that all may not buy into that doctrine, but for me...it's not okay, even to spark a marriage.
But I completely understand that I am in the minority on that.
