I can top that. Howard is my 4th cousin and I am becoming a recluse in my old age - guess it runs in the family. What do I win?

In his final reclusive state, Hughes kept his urine stored in jars in his room and wore Kleenex boxes as slippers due to his crippling fear of germs. He also had an unnatural fear of radiation and pollution.

For years after his evening meal Hughes ate a bowl of a particular flavor of Baskin Robbins ice cream, I believe it was some type of butter pecan. One day his kitchen staff realized they were down to the last gallon, and called to order more. They were informed that the flavor was discontinued, after telling the Baskin Robbins people that they had to have it, and price was not a issue BR agreed to make a special run, but the smallest batch they could make was 500 gallons, the Hughes people said no problem. In the evening of the same day they received the 500 gallons of butter pecan ice cream Hughes had his customary bowl after which he said " this as been pretty good, but I think it is time fro a change."

In the early 1960s Hughes drove a Corvair to a small airport where he was picked up by a company plane. Worried about the car Hughes later called the airport manager a demanded they get someone to guard the car until he returned for it. Hughes never returned but continued to pay the airport for 24/7 security for the car for years.
