Well my father-in-law got COVID from someone he works closely with who wasn’t coughing or sneezing. Now he’s in the ICU. He’ll probably be ok, but it would be a definitely if he never got in the first place.

And even if a mask only decreased the chances of getting it by 50%, that sure would have been a welcomed 50%. And it would be even more welcomed if he wasn’t especially healthy for his age.

You know, most people avoid coughing and sneezing on or around people when they are sick. Many even *gasp* stay home and avoid people altogether when they are obviously sick like that. But the reason this coronavirus (and the flu, and many other illnesses) spread so quickly is because people spread it without knowing they can.

It's absurd that this must be explained to people in the year twenty twenty.

Because there are very few cases in their area, he got tested after his coworker got it (from his GF, who got it after an ER visit), and the only close contact he has are his coworkers and family, and his supervisor has since tested positive.

So yeah. It’s pretty clear that he got it from his coworker, who was confirmed positive less than a week before my FIL’s symptoms presented, and his supervisor who was exposed as well tested positive.

Just wear a mask. No need to talk about it. No need to shame those who don’t. Just do it and avoid those who don’t.
