you would think they could get it done for the fall but i'd bet (pun intended) the legislature screws with it during the session and it is delayed

Since they have been jacking around with daily fantasy for over two years now, that is a very logical conclusion. Legal sports gambling is worth far more $$$ to LA than FanDuel and Draftkings so maybe that will move things along quicker. But I doubt it.

They have to figure out how to skim the most money off each bet. For example they have to see if the casinos are going to bribe them more to make you go into the casino to place your bet, or if the online sites will pay a bigger bribe so you can bet from your phone. Going to take them a bit to sort out all the bribes but just be patient they will get there eventually.

Dude, no one lives under the interstate from a sports gambling addiction. You’d just bet on credit and move to the next biggest city 400 miles away to start over if needed.

Correct. This is the battle to pay attention to. Knowing how LA works, I'll bet we don't get mobile. It'll be on-site only. On-site allows for more people to wet their beak.

I’ll give you three possibilities.
1) The lobbyists screw it up because they all can’t get on the same page. You’ll have to continue illegally gambling online or drive to Mississippi for the next three years. 55% probability with complete loss of tax revenue to other states.
2) The casino lobby wins and the gambling is restricted to onsite or mobile within the vicinity of the casino. Truck stops, sports bars, local bookies etc. all are pissed off including many sports betters. 25% probability with 33% realization of potential tax revenue.
3) The legislature decides they can’t screw this up this time. They tell the casinos either accept our laws or don’t offer it. The casinos actually have no leverage but of course lobbyist do. The legislature decides the best outcome is universal online and in person betting in parishes that voted to allow sports betting. (Lines might vary depending on in person or online as well as taxes or fees associated therewith) 20% probability with 120% realization of tax revenue due to ease and competition in Mississippi and Texas residents placing bets in the Louisiana.
With all that being said, they will wait till 1 week left to accomplish this or lose the opportunity. This should be the first order of business because it has the possibility to generate the most new revenue for the state.
