Yeah, I'm curious now.
I learned about him in Louisiana History at McKinley Middle.
Knew he was appointed by the US and the locals weren't too kind about it. Also knew he helped found Southern.
Just curious to see what schools attended didn't teach about Louisiana Governors during trying times.
Edit: I'm also a Lee High grad..
And I'm not concerned about the renaming. Although, I have very detailed memories of seeing Black families waving the confederate battle flag during football games (95-99). Threw me off a bit. Bit it wasn't a big deal then.

I remember her too. I'm really bad with teacher names now though. I don't remember many of them.
Mrs Spencer was my kindergarten teacher though. I remember her.

Isn't that the same year Coach Carroll was sent packing and most left for Central High and Belaire. That was a few years after I was gone.

Yep. That didn't help either. A lot of guys left for Belaire or Central HS after that.
We had to get whipped by Carrol with a big confederate flag paddle to get our letterman's jacket. And the other coach was a bald guy that dipped all the time. He was pretty cool but I can't remember his name. Long time ago now.

Mrs J was special. You could get away with murder in her class plus her grades were recorded in pencil so it was easy to change.
I had Mrs. Mac from 4th grade until 8th grade until she couldn't move up to high school at the time.
We had some great times there.
