My St Augustine lawn is full of weeds in the winter. I'm the only lawn in the subdivision that is like that. I use Scott Weed and Feed twice a year and also use turf builder. Anyone know what I can do to get my lawn in better shape?

Don't know the actual name of the weeds, grass weeds, ground running type weeds, some dollar weed as well.

Really not a good time to apply anything that is going to eradicate them. Now, you can spread as much corn gluten meal as you can afford which will help. Rains will soak it in and is excellent prevention.

So basically everyone else uses TruGreen or similar and you don't?

Honestly, If I could figure out the right chemical combination and timing for the 3,000 different types of weeds and 300,000 different pests I'd DYI it too.

Well that is not true. You can apply MCPA and dicamba.

Your grassy weed is probably poa. You can spray atrazine and certainty on that. The broadleafs could be clover, henbit, dandelion and mcpa and dicamba will take care of that.

It likely needs MSMA.

I thought I remember my chemical rep telling me that it's no longer labeled for commercial use. Unless you know someone, you might have trouble getting your hands on it.

He would only need MSMA if it is dallis grass and he isn't talking about dallis grass since it is dormant. Plus he has st aug and you wouldn't want to spray MSMA is st aug.

Well the A in MSMA stands for arsenate so that isn't really something to play around with. You can still buy it from some websites.
