It’s looking more and more likely my suspicions from yesterday were correct and what we’re seeing is the start of a major offensive by the Russians.

Sumy is much larger than the villages Russia has been taking. Potential for some fierce fighting there unless Ukraine decides it's a lost cause and pulls back.

Russia was suppose to have a big reserve force in the north up in that area. Zelensky even admitted this. One in the North and another in the South.

I don't know...they're both dead, a-hole.

Besides, I do support religious freedom but I don't support war mongering from a pulpit disguised as a faux religion. Do you?

A other post about the Russian offensive, a thread actually. It doesn’t seem to be from an independent source, rather one that appears to be pro-Ukraine. Still, there’s enough information to indicate the Russians are launching a serious offensive and not localized attacks.

I predict the next two weeks to be the critical time. If the Russians haven’t achieved a breakthrough by then, the offensive will probably peter out at that point. But with Ukraine’s well known acute manpower problems, that’s a tall order to expect them to prevent a Russian breakthrough.

Monthly in the early 60's and daily in 2nd grade again in 3rd grade after JFK was assassinated. Nary a one of these was hiding under a desk, but for evacuation. Several classmates had fallout shelters at home. These are all homes in the country, and made from AA gun mount steel dome shaped covers salvaged from the Orange (TX) navy yard, then covered with dirt.

Neither do the Chinese in buying Russia commodities. Fake Certificates of Analysis are commonplace. A deceased Chinese friend in Houston who had a trading practice with his #1 brother in Shanghai would always pay more for commodities from anywhere else due Russians never met contract specs. Shell Chemical introduced me to him in 2001. He bought a lot of chemicals and plastics from them for export to China. I remember how he complained that he had to have his Rolls Royce hand washed. He had purchased it from a neighbor in River Oaks whose wife had a string of DWI's in the one year she drove it. He only drove it to private parties with billionaires in Houston, like Dan Duncan.

What's crazy is that Russia has been war gaming how to conquer Ukraine for pretty much the entire modern history of their armed forces. Since at least 2013.

And they've been looking at these major provincial capitols for what? Three years now?

And they're like 20 or 30 miles away from their primary objectives across a 1000 mile front.

And they've got over 1 million men lined up. That's 5x what they had three years ago.

And this is what they come up with: Shell with conventional artillery. Send up a bunch of drones. Attack with meat waves of fresh recruits. Exploit whatever success they have with more experienced units. Suffer 1000 casualties a day. Rinse and repeat.

I mean. Is this really the best they can do??? The Russians have never been know for innovation. But still.

No end around?
No massive aerial asaults?
No amphibious landings?
No airborne landings?
No surprise attacks through Belarus?
No infiltration of covert units in major city centers?

It's like they never had a Plan B and they're reverting back to their WW2 playbook or something.

I honestly expected more from them. But I guess you should never overestimate the incompetence of an old school soviet bureaucracy, staffed by alcoholic stuffed shirts, and run by a mafioso midget who likes to play God.

There is a chance the Russians just don't have the vehicles and logistics to support any large breakthroughs. I think it's been a flaw to automatically assume that is definitely the case, because there are legitimate reasons for them to choose to fight the way they have for the past year or so. But it's certainly possible. Guess we might find out.

You're the one who thought it was irrelevant to leave out a very important fact when you edited a truncated quote without giving attribution.

And you got bitch-slapped for doing it.

One of the main lessons we’ve learned about the Russian Army in this war is it absolutely sucks arse at combined arms warfare, same for the Ukrainians as well. That’s why this war has been a stalemate for years now, but that’s besides the point. Basically, they have to rely heavily on numbers and massed fires to achieve their goals on the battlefield.

Rest assured my supposition that Russia is likely to achieve a breakthrough somewhere has nothing to do with them being militarily superior to the Ukrainian Army, rather it comes from the manpower situation on the Ukrainian side.

But, you do bring up a good point about Russian logistics. It’s probably their weakest suit when it comes to their military. It’s been a problem for them going all the way back to the age of Napoleon. It’s like the concept of logistics is foreign to them. This fact could help the Ukrainians.

Really, it all depends on jsit how bad the manpower situation is for the Ukrainians. From the reports I see, the situation is quite dire. But it’s next to impossible to get accurate information out of this war. That’s why I say we should know more in the next two weeks. If the manpower stories are true, odds are the Ukrainian front will start to buckle and break in that timespan. If the breakthrough doesn’t happen, then Ukraine has more left in the fuel tank that reports have indicated.

I got you to publicly admit that you are ok violating 3 parts of the first amendment

You literally could not have been cucked any harder.

At least some of the other UKuck posters are smart enough to bow out for a while when I make them look like complete fools. But you have the bonus of being a fool and morally bankrupt. Congrats! I'm sure your parents are proud.

You can say that again. Both sides are absolute pros at propaganda.
