It sounds serious, but I really doubt this will have any impact on the businesses at all. 99% of the population probably gives zero ducks about this and who does business with who. They probably do business with media companies who broadcast to their desired audience... Who won't give a frick or even know about this.

It’s why Pierce and other Black or Latina owners of media outlets are urging council members to demand that regulated entities in the city invest in organizations that work to inform people of color.
what a load of bullshite. They just want more money.

Advertising dollars aren’t some hand-out. Companies expect to get maximum return for their advertising budget. If it makes sense to advertise on that particular media platform, companies will spend the money there. Period.
Generally, it’s the media companies that are out there, trying to sell their ad space to the market, and bending over backwards to please their advertisers. If these black-owned media companies try extortion, I think it will backfire on them.

Nola is quickly killing itself.
I will only return to that wretched city to bury my elderly relatives.

In March, the media organizations will publish lists of all businesses — regulated or not — that have spent advertising dollars with them, as well as the names of regulated businesses that have not, “in a plan of accountability,” Pierce said.
Who gives a frick. If their audience was worth reaching, NIC media wouldn’t have to extort companies to do business with them.
Like entergy has to advertise anyway. They’re a legal monopoly.

I would expect this to be the case.

We know where this thing is going to end up, can we just skip the next 10-12 years and go there now.

I would be willing to bet a ton of people who live in the south and have never looked at the racial demographic statistics would think the same thing.
I always thought that too, and had never really looked up the nationwide statistics. A few years back when I started doing more traveling out of the south was when I did realize that. It really hits you when you go to the midwest or southwest especially.

f his radio station caters to a lower class black audience, then he isn’t going to be getting as money from high end luxury companies because that audience doesn’t have the disposable cash needed unless they are in the game.
Reading from the article it looks like their talking about city regulated businesses. SWB, Entergy, stuff like that not luxury antiques
