I've got a $1000 bill from my doctors office that I won't pay because they ran it on my old insurance, the insurance obviously didn't pay so now I have an outstanding balance.

i mean, the largest population group is getting very old. This should not be a surprise... Is it a good thing? no, is it understandable, yes.

No surprises here. The population has gotten a lot older, a lot fatter, and a lot less white since 1990. All those trends correlate with more health problems, ergo more demand for healthcare services.
