Every agency in AP seems to be out here. Not getting much information at all but it seems to be contained into the woods and not affecting any home yet. Breeze is keeping the smoke out of the neighborhood.

Lots of people clogging the street trying to get a better look.

From the looks of it, the FD is mostly observing rather than actively fighting it

While it was bad grammar there wasn't anything that you couldn't understand.

Forestry service has been out there. They have probably took lead. F.D. has one truck that can go off road. Otherwise they are limited to protecting structures.

That’s what I figured. We are far enough up the street where I’m not too worried but it would be nice to have some sort of info though.

I was wondering why my flight app showed a forestry plane circling that area this morning. I'm about 5 miles southeast of there and could smell the smoke this afternoon.

Yeah it was whipping pretty good earlier today. Try getting outside sometimes

Yeah, that's a bit of a stretch. It has been gustier today than it has been recently, but gusts in the 20s shouldn't be considered extreme. It is, however, enough to cause issues, as evidenced by the Tiger Island fire flaring back up.

Ascension Parish FD has a channel on the scanners apps, but it is down now. At least it is on the app I use.

They were checking on the original fire.

Usually a little windier near large fires. They suck in O2 creating their own wind.

That shite is extreme when you’re fighting a wildfire in 90+ deg temps

Just a piece of info: It is so thick in there that parish bulldozer was called in to clear trails for 4X4s to get to fire line.

Extreme winds in regards to wildfires have a standard definition. Gusts in the 20s don't meet that definition.

Smoke has mellowed out for the time being. Sounds like crews will be out here for the night but no real threat to homes
