I'll be flying in to NYC in the morning and trying to figure out the best mode of transportation to the hotel. I've seen Über mentioned but have no idea what it is or how to use it. Does the subway go to LGA? Are taxis fixed rate or will I be paying a fortune sitting in traffic?

We land at 10:10am, but I don't know if NYC ever has a good traffic time.

Taxi ride will cost you around $40 depending on where you are getting to in Manhattan. No straight subway from LGA

Taxi is cheap and easy. Subway is a pain in the arse because you have to take a bus to it

Uber will give $20 off you 1st ride... I'd go with them

ETA: Just download the app to your smart phone

FYI - Some Airports restrict Uber, I have no idea if LGA is one of them

Can you explain how it works? Will it be a long wait for a ride or do you just schedule a pickup?

Use promo code FIRSTRIDE20

It is a bad arse smartphone app that knows where you are, will give you a quote on where you are going, and the service will be great. I got complimentary waters in an Escalade last weekend in Denver

ETA: It will show you on a map all the uber drivers around you and as soon as you pull the app up it gives an ETA for the driver. It really doesn't get any better

Flat rate of $22 per person from Laguardia to pretty much anywhere in Manhattan. $18 if four ride. One stop. Yellow cab.

Sounds legit. Will probably give it a try. If the wait is too long, we'll just grab a taxi.

Too bad I have to use my wife's iPhone. No app for windows phone

It locates where you are using gps and puts a pin. Then there are different types of options (taxi, towncar, SUV, etc..) it will tell you how long they will be before you book it. Then it just charges your credit card.

You can also do a fare quote before you book a ride
