Why don’t we have a massive increase in hospital ability instead of changing society? Would it not be easier for the government to instead increase Temporary healthcare ability? Some quick examples would be stair step all non necessary healthcare and move those doctors and nurses into the ER healthcare systems. Build temporary hospitals in the school cafeterias or something like that to house certain patients.
Instead of giving billions back to the economy, spend the money on going into the offensive with healthcare. I understand that a Plastic surgeon and his nurses don’t specialize in this, but managing Covid is fairly basic healthcare right? Couldn’t they at least manage the non life threatening cases and all the others to focus on ICU cases?
“Our healthcare system can’t handle it” is a shitty excuse for the future, make it stronger then.

Most medical professionals aren't interested in "handling it". They just want to lay low until it goes away.

Hospitals can’t fill the open positions they have without a pandemic.

Exactly, that’s why you force them. If we can shut down restaurants we can force Doctors to help out.

It's not just doctors that are in short supply. It's the hospital beds, ventilators and other equipment people in ICU for respiratory distress need.
