Tech is NOT regarded as a more superior engineering program. Not even close.

Why does Tech operate on a Quarter System instead of a traditional 2 semester system?

Nope. SMH
Sorry bud
I’ll ask, what level of engineering have you arrived at? Not being snarky….
ETA: LaTech alum are not noticeable on the Texas market at any notable level of leadership. There are numerous LSU alum who are the contrary. Easy low hanging example fruit is HNTBs CEO (Simp) is a Tiger…..he’s based in MO.
Our last LT intern was at the top of their class and a really nice person, but was sorely lacking in skills/aptitude. They were not offered a position (which is unusual).
My real world experience has had LT engineering alum absent/unseen.

Is this how you determine the value of a La Tech degree? Seems off.
Tech is a solid school, I dont know why LSU people get so bent out of shape over their excellent engineering program.

It is solid. Premise of this thread is how it’s superior……
ETA: however, my post is reality at least in TX. Not mean spirited but is what it is.

quote:Once again, and read carefully… LSU was the better engineering school in the past. So yes, you will see executives from LSU in those positions. However, today, La Tech is now the better overall engineering school. Anecdotal evidence aside (1 maybe recent intern), there are facts backing this up. Why is this so hard for some of you to stomach? It doesn’t devalue the education you received.

Oh yeah...I have no doubt. Texas is a big draw for LSU engineering grads.
I have always liked Tech. Lots of my buds went there, and a few played ball there (baseball) and they've done well for themselves. Most coming from blue collar backgrounds.

quote:No, I never went to La Tech or LSU. However, I am very familiar with the universities, their programs, their graduates, and the employers. I'm coming at this from an unbiased angle and backed it up with facts. I'm not getting emotional like others, and I'm not trolling like others.
Are you a Tech grad?

Mainly because we’ve heard the same “LA Tech engineering is actually better than LSU engineering” bullshite since at least the early 2000s

What facts have you backed your argument up with?

LSU is ranked higher and has a lot more sway in corporate America, especially in petro and electrical.
Been hiring electrical engineers for over a decade.
Tech grads turn out to be high performers about 50% of the time.
LSU grads turn out to be performance management problems 50% of the time.
ULL grads tend to be feast or famine. Either a high performer or a problem...no in between.
