Set to take this thing. How difficult is it and the business law exam? Anything to focus on?

If you're going to be a residential contractor, please for the love of God bring your own tape measure to the job with you.

Yeah I studied the Blaw book they sent pretty good.

I'm more worried about the residential exam because the range of what they could ask is so broad. I see their breakdown of subject matter. But do I need to know basic things about electricity and plumbing or do they get detailed? How much of the test are specific codes, how much are formulas, etc.

Drink a beer and relax. You'll think more clearly without the stress.

Wasn't too bad but the study book is fairly long. We have a shipyard so we didn't have to take any of the discipline specific exams but did have to take business and law. Lots of questions about when a licensed contractor is needed dealing with cost of the project and example cases. Some ethics stuff on there too.

This is such a pile of horseshite. Just a bunch of contractors protecting contractors. Another in the long list of protectionist policies in Louisiana.

I am licensed for building construction in 14 states. Texas doe not require a license. The worst contractors I've ever seen across the board (and believe me, I've been doing this shite a long time and have seen some crappy ones) are in the state of Texas. Especially residential.

Business law is word for word out of the book. It's very easy. Residential test isn't hard for anyone who has knowledge of construction. I did hear that the residential test was changed recently and is more difficult but not sure if that is true or not.

Haha...apparently you aren't aware that DR Horton started in and is based out of Fort Worth, Texas and build ten times more shitty homes in Texas as they do in Louisiana.

Hope you aren't taking the exam.
