See if someone can reset the check engine light then go get the inspection right away. Sometimes the check engine light takes awhile to come back on.

Do you want to fail an inspection, because that's how you fail an inspection.

Your car won't register enough miles driven since last reset when they plug it in and you WILL get a nice orange sticker for your stupid attempt to beat the system.

EDIT: In the five emissions parishes, at least. Don't know if they plug into the OBDII ports in the other parishes.

Having a rejection ticket will actually buy you time. If your sticker is expired you will get a ticket. If you have the rejected sticker they at least see you tried to get one.

If you're actually planning to fix the problem, agreed. I believe it gets you one month.

After 30 days with the rejection sticker, you'll have to repay.

I think you're supposed to go back to the shop that rejected you with receipts showing you fixed it or had it fixed.

How long has anyone gone with an expired inspection sticker?

When I first moved here, I went 3 plus years without a sticker entirely. Then I bought a different vehicle, but its inspection sticker expired about a month later. Then went another year and a half. Never got a ticket for that and was pulled over once for something else. Now I have a different vehicle and I did get a current sticker for it.
