I have a child who was denied admission into LSU although he/she met all requirements including the ACT score.
My other child, who graduated college and applied for numerous Master’s degree programs in the Dept of Music was also denied acceptance to any of those that he applied for. The professor of the main department he was applying for is LGBTQIA/DEI. We were not given any specific reason for denial so we have to assume he was too white, too straight and too male.

“Here are pressing questions the Board of Regents must answer about this troubling policy:
· What actions have Commissioner Reed, the Board of Regents, and Louisiana colleges taken to achieve this objective over the past five years?
· Have universities, including LSU, used the “test-optional” policy to admit more “underrepresented minorities” over White students in pursuit of this goal?
· Have assistive programs been put in place that would benefit “underrepresented minorities” but were not made available to White or Asian students?
· Is this objective in defiance of President Trump’s Executive Order #14173 of January 21, 2025?”

So Landry hasn't changed anything? Shocker. My Republican arse can't wait to vote for somebody else in the primary.

DOesn;t this run afoul of the recent Scotus rulings against Harvard on DEI admission policies?
Test optional by itself doesn’t violate the SCOTUS ruling.

Maybe not, but this objective and how it was achieved does not look good!

Did you know LSU has adopted a “test-optional” policy? Why are we lowering the bar when we should be championing excellence and welcoming only the best and brightest to our universities?
Kinda figured they were doing this when kids were twerking on the rail of the PMAC.

LSU never gave out a lot of full ride scholarships to in-state students regardless of race.

According to one report I found on LSU’s website ACT and SAT being submitted have lowered recently even as LSU moved to using the Superscore for the composite score.
The fall 2024 freshman class (called 1st time/1st year admission enrollees in report) had slightly over 40% of enrollees from out of state/international and only 47% of the enrollees submitted a SAT or ACT score.
% of enrollees submitting ACT or SAT
first-time, first-year students who enrolled for fall 2024:
4721 in state
3124 out of state
80 international
7925 total

The fall 2023 freshman class (called 1st time/1st year admission enrollees in report) had close to 39% of enrollees from out of state/international and only 57% of the enrollees submitted a SAT or ACT score.

Financial aid totals for all enrollees in report are actually the final numbers for 2023 - 2024. You would have to go over each year and also get a better break down, but need based federal, state, institutional, and external grant and scholarship $ to all students for 2023-2024 increased nearly 3 times more than non-need based grant and scholarship $ increased since the last full pre-covid year 2018-2019 (institutional has gone up for non need as well but still less of $ increase than need based’s increase).

The downgrading of America.
