She is an idiot and an attention whore. Just step down. If you are so offended, make your point but then resign. To refuse to perform a basic task of your job in an adult tantrum is unacceptable.

The Supreme Court has ruled on this.

I'm an RN. I am pro choice. I could NOT work in an abortion clinic. Ain't got the stomach for it. But I would not apply for a job at a clinic, accept the job, then refuse to assist in any abortions.

In closing, frick her grandstanding arse.

I love how the media hasn't said a word about her being in 3 failed marriages and having a child out of wedlock

I don't think you have the first clue what America is "supposed to be about".

I think it's amending constitution by making up a constitutional right based on an Amendment giving slaves citizenship ratified around 150 years ago and changing long standing laws, practices, and definitions that existed both before and after 14th amendment was ratified.

If the 14th Amendment really meant when written and ratified what Supremes say it means the 15th Amendment would not have been needed just a few years later, the 19th would also not have been needed, President Grant would not have wanted to push for the Blaine amendment (federal or by individual states to their constitutions), segregation would not have been legal for over 80 years after 14th was ratified, and Congress would not have passed the ERA amendment and spent from 1971-1982 in failed attempts (with extension) to get it ratified. We have come to believe that there are 2 ways of amending the Constitution - the amendment process listed in the Constitution or the one not listed in the Constitution which is using the Supremes to change existing laws and the Constitution through the ever redefining and expansion of the 14th Amendment (and federal power through enforcement) by the Supreme Court. A group of people whose only true oversight after they get appointed and affirmed for life is that they are mortals and eventually will die like all of us.

I still believe if she was basing this on anything other Christianity, half the crowd supporting her would be against her.

Yep.

Imagine the reaction a year ago if she was lesbian and refused to issue marriage licenses until same-sex marriages were made legal. I doubt people would support her standing by her beliefs at that point...

Cry me a river. IMO, this thread proves that America isn't as bad as people like to think.

WTF?

No.

She's a publicly elected official and has to obey the law. Same shite would happen to her and I'd support it fully.

She isn't in jail because she has a different belief. She is in jail because she refuses to do her job.

Christians like you give us all a bad name. I'd have admiration for her if she resigned because of her beliefs, but her current actions are ridiculous.

It really puzzles me why their is a faction of this country and message board that is so upset with the lives, thoughts and beliefs of of white Christian conservatives.
You people hate us.

I suppose if I though nothing was wrong with holding another dudes cock in my mouth or trying to pass my life off as the opposite sex I'd tend to agree.
But I don't, so hate on haters.

She's the perfect foil. What a useless, nepotistic (got the job from her mom, hired her son), fat, ugly, ignorant, gullible, slutty, hypocritical, hateful bitch.

Oh I completely agree. My post was a reply to those who are saying they support her standing up for her beliefs because they are Christians as well.

People in here are saying this is an attack on Christianity and that people who oppose her are not willing to be tolerant of her beliefs. I'm stating that those positions would quickly change if the roles were reversed.

I'm a white, Christian conservative and I've got no problem with her being in jail. I wish it was done to more elected officials who broke the law.

It is entirely possible to be supportive of the bakery owners who refused to bake a cake for a same-sex wedding while also believing that this clerk of court is out of line.

She should have resigned, plain and simple.

As a white, whatever, bleeding-heart liberal, I agree with you 100%. Where does the government get the authority to police my fundamental right to contract to this incredible degree of particularity? It's one thing to say "you can't contract to have sex with minors"; it's a totally different ballgame to coerce businesses into rendering service to customers they'd rather not. I'm in favor of socially ostracizing the bigoted bastard and boycotting his bakery until he's run out of business - but the government telling me I have to accept a customer? I hope the ACLU would come down on the baker's side, but I'll have to look into that.

Re: comparisons to segregation, well...that's a tough one. I'd have to agree. My opinion is pretty fluid at this point. Segregation probably wouldn't have ended absent government intervention, and I think ending segregation was something worth sacrificing for. The same could probably be said for prohibiting explicit discrimination against homosexuals. I hate slipperly slope arguments, but it stands to reason...

Spare me.

This ranks on a G rating of something an elected official has done that is against the law.
Put lady in jail? Really?

A greater liberal influenced point is trying to be made here.
I know it and you know it.

I wish the lady would have been black.
Only thing that trumps the homo agenda in this country is the race agenda.
I'm curious to see what the Feds would have done then.

You're entitled to believe or think whatever you want, no matter how intolerant and ignorant it is. The line is drawn when your stupidity encroaches on another's right to live their own lives.
