If you ever make it to Germany during the Xmas season, I highly recommend the Schloss Guteneck Christmas market.
We went last year on the night they did their Krampus shtick. Had no idea what the "story teller" was saying, but afterwards all the people dressed as Krampus roamed around the market scaring the shite out of people.
Apparently Krampus is a creature that emerges from the woods and kidnaps bad children. He forces them into an old sack and drags them around while beating the sack with a stick.
Most German children are very well behaved.
