The Ku Klux Klan plans to rally in July in response to calls to remove the Confederate flag from South Carolina statehouse grounds.
"We will be at the statehouse in Columbia, S.C., standing up for our Confederate history and all the southerners who fought and died against federal tyranny," an automated message on the Loyal White Knights's answering machine said.

"Our government is trying to erase white culture and our heritage right out of the pages of history books," the message said.
Brian Gaines, spokesman for the S.C. Budget and Control Board, confirmed plans of the rally to USA TODAY Network. It will occur on July 18 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. ET, he wrote in an email. Reservations to use the statehouse grounds are made online and are given on a first-come, first-served basis, he wrote.
Republican Gov. Nikki Haley has issued a statement criticizing the rally.
"This is our state, and they are not welcome," Haley said in an email sent to USA TODAY Network.

Why. Don't they rally in North Carolina to raise the flag?
That is their state, isn't it?

I wish these people would just go away.

They have the right to assemble if they want. As long as it's nonviolent I could care less.

I don't agree with this statement. As a free society we should support even the most bigoted people's right to free speech and should not try and force them out because we don't agree with their views.
I also think this "rally" will be a handful of toothless inbreds, but it will be reported on the news as something more than what it really is. Like the confederate flag rally that was held at Ole Miss where it was like 2 people. But the news didn't characterize it as such. I hate the klan and all they stand for, but giving them air time and notice only encourages their stupidity! And there was no reason for the Governor to even make a statement acknowledging them.

Remember that time Louisiana almost elected one as their governor?

The beauty of being an American is that even inbred idiots like the kkk have the right to assemble.

The Klan may be pure crap, but screw Haley. Typical government POS.

Their right to free speech is supported by being allowed to say what they want without fear of persecution. They aren't going to be put in jail.
That's as far as anyone is obliged to "support" these idiots. Office of the governor is within their rights to say they don't support the KKK and they aren't welcome.
