Kissing the bosses arse

So I'm good at my job but i am bad at being a kiss arse which might explain why i am stuck with the junkie. I can crack jokes and can be funny as hell around everyone else but the big dogs. It seems that the ones who can bs with the big dogs are moving ahead way faster than me. Any ideas of how I can stop being such a rigid asshat and help myself move up?
