Allowing towns and small cities with under 25,000 residents to run their own law enforcement and court is at best short sighted and at worst legitimized extortion.

I wouldn't say mean? How about misunderstood? Your thinking can be kinda goofy a good bit of the time.

But I know you mean well in your own sort of way.

Good point. They probably pay their police less and thus get untrained cops.

It does save money, what is the point of locking someone up for not paying a fine? instead of making a small amount on them you end having tax payers pay to house them.

Fines are used to deter people from certain actions. Why have so many people forgotten this point? Maybe a new system instead of jail. You can either have sex, lights on, with Rebel Wilson, Rampage Jackson gets 2 punches to your face or pay your fine. In fact let's make this a reality show.....just like in Idiocracy.

I like to be nice to people. I try to have sympathy for the underprivileged, but again, I don't think we should reward those who can work but don't.

Dad says I have misguided sympathy.

It's a necessity here. Not courts necessarily, but police departments.

Heather, what's fair bea???

I think I saw a stat last night that the top '1%' (that your kind like to harp on) pay around 50% of the tax receipts.

Pretty sure you could confiscate every dollar from the top '1%' and it wouldn't put a dent in this countries liabilities.

But aure would shut down a frick ton of businesses and you'd have a hell of a lot of people needing handouts from the massive loss of jobs.

Courts too. You don't want people traveling 200 miles to get their say. It's a necessary evil due to the people.

The female body is not something to be ashamed of. Camel toe is just something some women have. Who are you to tell them what they should/should not wear? It sounds to me that years of patriarchy indoctrination has brainwashed you into thinking camel toe is something women should be ashamed of.

Be kind of strange being a cop in a small town in Alaska, since you could be a long way from getting help.

$200 is big money to someone making minimum wage. It hurts a lot

Really?

I see minimum wage workers all the time smoking cigs. At only 1 ppd that is about $170 a month.

smoking highest amongst those below poverty line

$171 per month at 1 ppd

And I rarely if ever see a minimum wage worker these days without a smartphone. Where event the low cost ones are pushing $150 a month. LINK
