Same here. I got stuck behind an obese woman in a one of the driving carts yesterday. She had 2 counterfeit 20s in with 3 legit 20s. Cashier caught it and had to get a manager involved.

Obese lady, " oh! Those are not real? I had no idea! Our car was stolen from our house two days ago and these were laying on the ground. I thought they fell from the pocket of the person who stole our car. I had no idea they were fake! God bless you ma'am! You have a lot better eye than me. How can you tell the difference? Etc., etc.."

I listened, somewhat amusingly, to this trash attempt to explain herself. Then had to wait while she determined the $40 worth of merchandise she wanted to take off the total.

I stayed quiet until the cashier handed her the two counterfeits back. The obese lady started to put them in her purse and I spoke up to tell the cashier that she was legally bound to confiscate the fakes. Lady did not want to give them back but did after I said "well, it is either her or the police. Just know that if it is the police there is a good chance they will do a lot more digging into the origins of those 20s than she (the cashier) will." She handed them over with a quickness.

I find myself at the returns desk several times a day, shaking my head, trying to explain to some jerk that something he bought 8 years isn't returnable, just because he thinks it should have lasted 15 years like his "good ol craftsman did". I don't work with food, but in many cases it's not worth my time to turn down a return, more than half of the time I will get full credit from the manufacturer.

Glad I saw this thread. I'm going to start returning the milk I buy that expires every time and anything else that spoils, goes flat/stale before eaten.

worked in a grocery store in college and we had to refund everything just like the OP described.

Managers in retail are generally spineless and will do anything just to avoid a confrontation with a customer.

Makes me think back to a time where I was buying a 6-pack of 5hr energy and as I was going through self checkout I noticed the scanned price didnt come out to what the sale sticker price said. I bought the pack anyways, but I ended up telling the people up front just in case someone else were to throw a shite fit over a few bucks, and I even told them I had bought it and was fine with the price, just wanted to give them a heads up. The guy upfront not only refunded my money, but also allowed me to keep the 5hr energy pack for no charge.

Walmart won't even take produce back after a day

I've bought really bad crabmeat that was suppose to be good for months refrigerated.. Didn't even have it for 48 hours and it was spoiled.. Took a loss after my first purchase of same brand was great.
