All snakes are venomous except the ones that aren't. The ones that are venomous look like actual snakes so they are easy to identify. The nonvenomous snakes also look like actual snakes and are also easy to identify.

In SE La. we really only have 3 venomous species, all easy to identify, water moccasins (cottonmouths), copperheads and a few rattlesnakes, all easy to identify. The rest are harmless.

Dont have the luxury of confirming with small kids around. If it doesn’t have legs, it dies. Besides, couldn’t see get a good look in the hole. And only caught a glimpse when she went in

From 1989-2018 there were 100 snakebite deaths reported in the US. 11 of those were under 21 years old. Only 1 reported case overall in Louisiana. 2 Cottonmouth bites. Rattlesnakes make up the large majority of fatal bites.

On the other hand, 283 kids died from pitbull attacks from 2005-2017. If you really want to kill an animal to protect your kids, start killing every dog that looks like a pitbull you see. I'm sure n oone will mind.
