This is a pretty good read so far. As some of you know, the island of Derniere was almost wiped off the face off the earth by a hurricane in the 1850's. A class 4 hurricane. Horrible story and so far it is a pretty good book. Well-written. Thanks to outdoor board for turning me on to it.

I've read about half of it, one day I just need to sit down and finish it. I thought it was very interesting how that was the summer retreat for the aristocrats in NOLA. I would love to see more pictures of the resort, if they were out there.

I am really bad about that with books. I swear I have 50 that I have partially read.

Just think if that island had held up what it would be worth now. White sandy beaches in Louisiana?

We could have had Gulf Shores in La. Our own damn mullet toss.
