I've never seen a live scorpion, 10 years in AZ. Spent first year here shaking out my shoes everyday all scared of a scorpion.

Was it a baby one? Those are the ones that you have to worry about cause they don't know how to regulate their venom so you get all they got when they sting.

Lost my Internet.

Back first thought it was a spider bite, hurt like hell, swole up, red and very swole. I am fading out of consciousness now.

Ok that last line was a lie. Feeling better but finger hurts I think I will be able to go home within the hour. Thanks for all your support everyone.

Love the OT

Smaller ones out here nurse and not poisonous like the ones where you live. I feel for anyone that gets stung by a big arse one. My Gf and son never saw me run around that much before. Stuck my finger in frozen water bottle and headed to ER. I left my shorts untied hopefully one of dem nurses out there wants a picture of my meat and potatoes.

Glad you are ok

Scorpions out there glow all crazy with a black light?

They do here, that's how many people look for them at night.

Scorpions are largely nocturnal.
They also fluoresce when illuminated by UV light.
Get a blacklight and go looking for them one night. You will be surprised at how many you find.

Wut? ER for a scorpion sting? In 4th grade, I got stung 3 times in the same arm. Finished the day without the ER or posting about it.

First, there existed no message board when you were stung. Second, it figures an Aggie would be stung 3 times before realizing there was a problem.

exotic ones in South Florida from people who import them and release them into the wild (THESE would be the ones I'd worry about).

This seems like a recurring problem for south Florida

Yes, I've seen multiple scorpions here in Alabama, but only gotten stung once. It was about the size of a quarter and felt like a bee sting. You're wasting your time and money in the ER buddy.

Just some more irrational arachnophobia based on ignorance. Probably a Centruroides hentzi or Centruroides vittatus based on location. Quite overkill going to the ER...I did indeed .

And "Scorpion King", pics of said GF.

Here is one (Vaejovis carolinianus) I caught in my yard.

I got nailed by one a couple years ago, not far from you at a hunting camp in Sanderson. It got swollen but not much worse than a wasp or a bee.

Boo - If I got stung even once - I'd never be right again. Constantly thinking I'm seeing more...
