Stop being a Karen.
I do field work in Shreveport and go to the worst neighbors with no problem. I do it every day.
I don’t want to disrupt your pearl clutching but few cities have their nice places interstate adjacent.
Shreveport became little Dallas in the oil boom and it sucks now due to years of Democrat rule, just like most southern metro areas.

Going back 14 years to 2006, you have Cedric Glover, Ollie Tyler and Adrian Perkins, 3 Democratic mayors in a row in a city that is 60% Democrat. Weak to no leadership and a city council that can’t agree on anything that would benefit the town. City, State and Federal Government is largest employers, welfare, WIC and government housing are about all that is keeping Shreveport afloat. There are multiple reasons why Bossier City, only the width of the Red River away, is booming. GM shut down, Libby Glass is shutting down, Oil & Gas are up and down and without the casinos, hospitals and Barksdale Air Force Base, there would be NO economy.
You did well not to chance exiting without knowing exactly which exits lead to “somewhat safe” areas. And headed south on I-49 is even worse especially at night, I wouldn’t exit anywhere between I-20 and the Home Depot exit at Bert Kouns in the late evening or at night. They’ve already almost doubled the murder rate from this same time period last year so they’re on a roll. I lived in and within the Shreveport area for over 50 years and I only go there now for family emergencies or doctor visits.

Don't totally disagree with you, but will you promise me that it will be at least another 15 yrs before you pass back through.
