I’ve picked it up and walked over to their window and said “Pardon me sir/miss, but I think you dropped this by mistake”. Hand it back to them and said have a nice day.

Well, I hate a litterbug too, but quite frankly with the way everybody and his brother, sister, mother, and cousins in this country nowadays feeling like they have to pack a hogleg everywhere they go all the time ... I've become a bit hesitant to confront anybody about anything in public that doesn't concern me personally.

Think about all that has gone wrong in that shitty person’s shitty life. Confronting someone for 5 seconds in the parking lot won’t change them.
The best course is to quietly pick up that litter yourself. You get the tidiness you value, don’t put yourself at risk and you hopefully set an example for someone else to pick up on.
For your own wellbeing, try not to get too mad at shitty people.

I can't stand litterbugs. I live off the highway and I'm constantly picking up trash in my yard. Beer cans, water bottles, fast food bags.. it never ends
