The discussion wouldn't be complete without it.

Supposedly the mounds were believed to be older than the pyramids. It's a great place to visit. I wouldn't doubt a lot of the mounds/areas around here had a business agreement and all could be as old.

I grew up in Richland and had a noticeable ridge in the back of the field on a decent bayou. Every year it was hipped up, we would find arrowheads, pieces of pottery (occasionally), even found a tomahawk stone. It even had a ground out groove for the leather on the shorter side.

It's not a mound, but just the highest point along the bayou in the area. It was always an adventure to go with my Dad finding stuff.

Remember the man that was trying to confront the erosion on the Ouachita river in Harrisonburgh? He was doing so by throwing his trash on the riverbank. The first thing you’d see crossing onto the old bridge.

No...likely not. I'm Rayville '93. I had cousins in the Fairbanks/old Swayback bar area. But younger. I crossed that bridge for football with Farmerville.

I stand corrected.

Not very many markings to acknowledge where you're at?

Is Harrisonburg in Concordia Parish?

Wifes' from the Swartz area, and I too had cousins in Richland parish, and a couple that graduated from West Ouachita.

All our family is still up in NELA, we have been down here in the greater BR area since 2000.

We have dual citizenship!

Ok so learn me...

Does that bridge cross the Black River?

From what town(s)/parish(es)?

I literally never had a cell phone signal to know where I was at on my Google maps.

I think it crosses the Ouachita on the way to Sicily Island. You can turn before there in Peck? and head north and there in a 4wheeler park. Don't know if still there, but maybe.

No, the Harrisonburg bridge crosses the Ouachita River. The Ouachita, Tensas, and Little River make the Black at J'ville.

My grandfather was born and raised and buried in Harrisonburg.

His funeral was my 1st time there.

Years later, One day I veered off on Hwy 8 in Sicily Island to go visit his grave.

That's when I realized there's so much history in that area, and it often gets overlooked.

I've done more than my share of shopping in medithrift. Although I lived in Concordia parish. I spent plenty of time in harrisonburg.
