Jimmy Carter's melanoma has spread to his brain

ATLANTA—Former President Jimmy Carter on Thursday said doctors had found cancer in his brain in addition to his liver and he would cut back on his work schedule as he undergoes treatment that includes immunotherapy and radiation.
Speaking at a news conference at the Carter Center here, hours before he was to undergo a first course of radiation, he said doctors had found four spots on his brain and they had removed a cancerous tumor from his liver.
More tumors are “likely to show up in other places in my body,” Mr. Carter said, adding he would have scans in the next few months to see if the cancer has spread elsewhere.
