From the time and place he grew up, a college education wasn't the priority
A lot of successful people from his time in this state never even went to college, probably couldn't afford it
I have several relatives that never attended a day of college but were very successful in life

Most universities aren’t overall. There’s conservative colleges within such as the ag or engineering schools. One of the few large colleges remaining that is truly conservative seems to be Texas A&M.
