That's a large metro area for less than 200k proper

BR is similar. There's only about 225k in the city limits but the metro is about 750-800k. White flight is real here too.

The "nine parish area" has 900k, maybe. EBR, Livingston and ascension don't have over 800k.

Somehow a place like Knoxville has over 800k in its metro despite having under 200k in the city.

That area is the fastest growing in the State. Next would be Rankin County.

I've seen suburbs of Hattiesburg nicer than any I've seen in Baton Rouge.

What exists in Hattiesburg suburbs that doesn't exist in BR's suburbs?

Good place to live. Plus Hattiesburg has exceptional golf courses. Something Baton Rouge tremendously lacks.

Why would any white person stand behind some man who clearly doesn't like them?

I know a lot of these responses are brave internet warriors behind their keyboards, but really Jackson is nothing compared to BR/NOLA.

Jackson just hit, what, it's 26th murder of the year? NOLA took care of that in the first hour.

Seriously though, can anyone explain to me why they wear they wear the African clothes? I just don't get it. If Africa is the motherland and all and is awesome, why not relocate? An honestly serious question.

He could be like Clayton Bigsby, but white and raised with black racists.

This is the organization that the new mayor of Jackson is in. He believes the following should happen. How could anybody in good conscious vote for him? He wants the south to leave the union. Ring a bell?

The Republic of New Afrika (RNA) was founded in 1968 as an American social movement based in Black Nationalism; it had three goals:

1. Creation of an independent African-American-majority country situated in the southeastern United States, in the heart of an area of black-majority population.

2.Payment by the federal government of several billion dollars in reparations to African-American descendants of slaves for the damages inflicted on Africans and their descendants by chattel enslavement, Jim Crow laws, and modern-day forms of racism.

3. A referendum of all African Americans to determine their desires for citizenship; movement leaders say they were not offered a choice in this matter after emancipation in 1865 following the American Civil War.

The vision for this country was first promulgated by the Malcolm X Society[1] on March 31, 1968, at a Black Government Conference held in Detroit, Michigan. The conference participants drafted a constitution and declaration of independence.[1] Its proponents[who?] lay claim to five Southern states: Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina; and to the black-majority counties adjacent to this area in Arkansas, Texas, North Carolina, Tennessee and Florida.[2]

Really odd hair selection on that guy. He has temporal balding, but other than that his hairline is beyond his mid-forehead. His eyebrows look like two big comets set on course for a head-on impact. His sideburns are trimmed to points, but yet his beard is completely squared off on the sides of his face, but his goatee is left rounded.
