This thing is contagious as shite and it’s super deadly to old people without proper medical care.

It’s also dangerous enough to enough young people that a good number of them still have to go to the hospital, taking up beds and resources and thus denying the old people proper medical care.

The ensuing death rate is the result

On an average day 1500 people die in Italy

We know what the flu does every year and this have enough resources to handle it.

This not only infects more people than the flu but it’s deadlier and has been dropped into our laps with no ability to prepare.

Well we really don't. I work young people every year that die from the flu. Some I know for a fact that got vaccinated.

We know the numbers for the flu. Generally speaking at least. So we have enough beds/doctors/etc to cover it. I know there are still tragic deaths, but in broad terms handling the flu is built into our society.

Well we won’t know for sure until this thing runs it course. But there’s already hard studies showing that it’s way more contagious before showing symptoms than the flu is. Some of the doctors will have to give the numbers. But something to do with the amount of R-something in the throat

I'd be interested to see those studies. You may very well be correct. As I stated in another thread, I've talked to several ER doctors, they themselves haven't worked a confirmed CV case but have talked to some that have. Also on the radio I've heard things that echo what doctors have told me, (as I've said a million times I work ems) they think the CV has been widespread since late last year or early January, and that it peaked probably before most of us knew anything about the Coronavirus name.

I'll be honest of course I hope I'm right, I have to now go into more and more houses due to fear people have corona and calling ems. I hope this soon dies down. As of now, I don't see this being any more dangerous than other viruses. Maybe in a month or so we will know for sure. Obviously I hope I'm right and I'd hope most of ya'll would hope that as well. We should all take precautions during flu (virus) season, especially around elderly, any year, last year, this year, and next year, etc.

Oh come on.

It’s not the end of the world bad, or even should be day to day altering, but the only people still hedging on this being distinctly more pronounced clinically than the flu are in denial.

There is ample evidence from multiple independent sources suggesting it to be so.

The only counter? “Hey! HEY! This one guy had mild symptoms!”

I mean seriously? We have ORs and hallways being converted to makeshift ICUs, the virus accounting for a quarter overall of daily deaths in places, and we STILL have people talking like this is seasonal flu.

It's an emerging virus, I'm just asking if there are studies that prove this. I'm not even disagreeing, but how do we know it's more contagious or deadly?

That's a good reply and thank you. I'm curious to how many flu cases they have compared to Coronavirus cases. I like everyone else hope this all dies down soon or maybe next season we are more ready for it.
