I wasn't disagreeing, just sharing my personal experiences that line up with what you were saying. My only point is that I wish they didn't have to hide, but after talking with all of them I get where they are coming form.

I know you weren't disagreeing; it was more to all the haters here lol. I was pointing out that this is really pretty common in BR (and other towns w similar values). Most of this thread thinks this is paranoia, but it's a justified Concern.

Paige, I can't hate on HC86.. As much as she dislikes me, she can't stop me from liking her.. With that said, what you are laughing at really isn't funny...

Breaking news, gay people in Baton Rouge aren't super flamboyant and throwing it in people's faces in bars you frequent like Ivars. What kind of person spends time worrying about something like this? Gays certainly aren't wasting their time thinking about your choices

No, you were not suggesting that gay men in the closet are common in BR, you were asking if there was an underground circle of gay men, like a gay secret society that conspires to date women and lead them on

There's something going on in this town and a bunch of dudes who are secretly in the closet just need to come out already... or just move to Nola where there's a "safe space" for that lifestyle.

Sounds to me like you can't get past a 1st or 2nd date and are trying to find something or someone to blame other than yourself. You cannot land a man because of you.

Most likely not. I don't think that most single men here are, just that there are closeted ones who fake it. Someone on another page asked if that was the case in BR? Yes, I'm sure these guys this applies to are too ashamed to come out in a conservative, southern college town like this. Some of them are well-known in BR (socially and professionally), and it would put a damper on their image if it came out that they were gay. I personally don't care. There are plenty of single men. Just bringing up a topic that's not really discussed here bc it's interesting

This is exactly what I thought you were saying. You didn't come off as if you are judging. Everyone will probably think of all the guys they know and say to themselves "there is no way he would be gay". Not that it matters if they are or not, but there are likely more men than a lot of people realize, who lives the whole "happy wife, happy life" life that are miserable because they are gay, but the thought of telling their parents, co-workers... wife & kids, etc keeps them from coming out..

Even today, there are many people who don't understand. A lot of these people view it from a religious standpoint, which is... if you are gay, it is a sin.. So there is a lot of motivation for people to hide their sexual preference.

This is the part I think you're confused about. There's nothing concerning about it. In a city the size of Baton Rouge there's probably thousands of gay guys, and I promise they aren't lurking in the shadows trying to trick unsuspecting 30 year old former sorority girls into loveless marriages.

I could be wrong, maybe she will correct me if I am, but I don't think this is at all what she is saying.

You're trying to trivialize a serious issue. If there are gays in Baton Rouge who have not identified themselves then they need to be outted. This woman's self esteem is at stake.

Correct. It's just crazy to think about all the men wishing they could be out, but settle down with a woman. Or stay single bc it's easier than living a complicated lie. It's just sad.

Does LSU still have that bathroom with the glory holes they can't keep plugged up?
