The only things marked up more than fireworks are generic drugs.

You wouldn't believe the mark up on consumer fireworks. From a wholesaler a case of 500g cakes runs $25-$45. They usually charge more than that for a single cake. That being said they make most of their money off the cheezy kid items. A case of snakes or smoke bombs for example contains hundreds of the product for about $18... at a buck a piece the profit margins are huge.
I use to travel from central Arkansas to a wholesaler in Joplin. For the price I would pay for a truck bed full of good stuff at a tent I would fill a Uhaul top to bottom at the supplier.
